Ramon Bonus Stamps

In the late sixties (I think it was 1968) a gentleman called Mr Shah (currently residing in the USA) started a Customer Loyalty program on the lines of S&H Green Stamps that had proved very popular in US.

Mr Shah named his program the “Ramon Bonus Stamps” and shopkeepers were directed to distribute the stamps on specified purchase amounts.

The program became very popular and grew by leaps and bounds.

It reached a stage where Mr. Shah’s company was issuing more Ramon Bonus stamps than the Indian Postal department was issuing   postage stamps!
There was virtually no competition in the market  so the Stamp Scheme was a roaring success..
The scheme had to be wound down when people started printing their own stamps, shopkeepers started  keeping all the stamps for themselves and for a number of other reasons.
